Your public IP is fetched from api.ipify.org — a simple, reliable IP-echo service that returns only your IP address. Timezone and language are read directly from your browser — no external request needed for those. If you're on a VPN, you'll see your VPN exit node's IP, not your real one.
// What Every Website Already Knows About You
Your IP address is sent with every single HTTP request your browser makes — there's no way to browse without it. Websites log it by default.
ISP and organisation are publicly resolvable from your IP via WHOIS and RDAP records. If you're on a corporate network, the company name shows here.
City-level location is derived from IP geolocation databases — accurate to within ~20-50km for residential IPs, sometimes more precise for business connections.
VPNs mask your real IP and replace it with the exit node's IP — so your ISP, location and ASN all change to that of the VPN provider. This is the primary practical use of a VPN for privacy.
IPv6 leaks are a common VPN issue — if your VPN only tunnels IPv4 but your connection supports IPv6, your real IPv6 address (often device-specific) can be exposed alongside your VPN's IPv4.
